The OC Geek Brody Brings Back to the Nerds

Adam Brody, who plays the geeky Seth Cohen on FOX's "The O.C.," is behind yet another '80s remake.

The 24-year-old actor and his fellow actor Bret Harrison are co-producing the redo of the 1984 comedy "Revenge of the Nerds," report news sources.

The pair pitched the concept to "The O.C." executive producer McG, who will produce the remake. Brody and Harrison will possibly appear in the film.

The original "Nerds" centers on college outcasts who set out to overthrow the Alpha Beta jock bullies who stole their dormitory. The new version will most likely have a similar storyline and feature cameos by the original "Nerds."

"Life As We Know It" creators Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah will pen the screenplay.

Brody's film credits include "American Pie 2," "The Ring" and the skateboarding film "Grind." He next stars alongside Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the spy romance "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," which will be released in summer 2005.

Harrison, 22, is best known as the gawky Brad O'Keefe on the WB's "Grounded for Life." Both Brody and Harrison have made guest appearances on each other's shows. Harrison appeared opposite Jack Black and Colin Hanks in 2002's "Orange County."

McG has directed the two "Charlie's Angels" films and has signed on to helm Columbia Pictures' "Hot Wheels" project.

Benjamin McKenzie Birthday Project

Benjamin-McKenzie.net is organizing a Birthday Project for Ben’s birthday, which falls on September 12. I’m writing to ask you to support this Project. The charity of choice this year that was picked is Make-A-Wish Foundation (more info about the foundation at their website, www.wish.org)

The Project (in short known as BP04) is a charity fundraiser-cum-birthday book one. This means that in conjunction with a month-long charity fundraiser, the project also entails having fans send in birthday letters, photos and fan art for Ben, which will be included in a compiled book at the end. The main aim of BP04 is not just to raise funds, but to honor Ben on his special day while doing this for the less fortunate, instead of simply sending him a gift.

The fundraiser works in 2 ways: fans can either contribute to the cause by going to The BP04 Store and buying merchandise from there (all profits made from each item at the store will go to Make-A-Wish) or they can choose to donate cash through Pay Pal if they do not wish to purchase an item. There is definitely no extra cash for us to profit from, because all money raised will benefit Make-A-Wish, in Benjamin’s name.

Adam nominated for Teen Choice Award
This year, The Teen Choice Awards will be broadcast August 11, 2004, on Fox. Adam Brody has been nominated in the category of Actor: Drama/Action Adventure. Avi spotted Adam at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival on May 2nd in Indio, CA. He was with a group of friends and with a girl looking pretty friendly.

Just thought I would share with all you Adam Brody fans. On sunday May 2, I was enjoying the second day of the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA. I was having a good time as I watched The Cure perform, when one of my friends points over and says "Hey isn't that the kids from the OC?" My other friend then asks me (because she knows I watch the show) and surely enough it was Adam Brody and Rachel Blisson being VERY snuggly towards another (anybody else knew they were going out???) anyways, they stood right next to us for a while with some of their friends, and then they left. I did manage to snap a photo of the cute couple.

Be sure to check out Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, and Rachel Bilson on MadTV. "Justin Guarini" teaches Summer and Seth a few things while American Idol's "Clay Aiken" challenges Seth and Ryan to a brawl. This episode airs May 1st on Fox at 11:00 PM EST & PST/10:00 PM CST. The season finale of The OC will air Wednesday, May 5th. And there will be no OC during the summer :(

Revenge of the Nerd
Seth Cohen is about to get a lot more popular. Adam Brody - the actor behind The O.C.'s breakout geek - has landed a supporting role in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie thriller Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In the film, Pitt and Jolie star as a married couple who discover that they are assassins hired to kill each other. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brody's character gets kidnapped early in the film only to return home just in time for Chrismukkah.
